Bedina's War

Bedina's War follows three generations interwoven by the War for Unification. The Alliance, Commonwealth, and Space Lab Nations have now become one, but it is a universal truth that the wages of war are paid by the generations to come. For each faction, this war was no different. Captured Space Lab Nationals suffer severe dementia followed by death, a medical condition for which there is no cure. Salvation comes when a Commonwealth ship's engineer discovers the harmonics of the engines slows the dementia. The discovery leads to the invention of "Songboxes," small cube pendants forged of silver, which mimic the engine sounds. Thirty years later, many families remain splintered and separated. Sally, a Space Lab whose Alliance husband had made the ultimate sacrifice to save the healing power of the "Songboxes", journeys to Orchidea. There she joins King Haskell as he helps Orchidea heal from the devastation of the war. Though often at odds, the two are well-matched as they work together to resurrect the radiation poisoned planet. Sixty years after Bedina's War, a new battle arises that could devastate the union of nations. Soldiers are dying from a mysterious illness. Bedina's widower, Tupelo, realizes that his wife's venomous treachery is still poisoning the military. The Songbox is the key to the cure, but can he save the lives of the servicemen in time?
