Perhaps the most beloved Christmas story of all time, A Christmas Carol tells the tale of the bitter and miserly Ebenezer Scrooge's ideological, ethical, and emotional transformation. The phrase 'Merry Christmas' came into widespread use following the publication of this story. It has never been out of print since its initial edition was released in December of 1843.
