Dr Battenfield was a seven-year-old boy spending a long week with grandparents in rural Oklahoma. They had no idea how to interact with a child. He searched for clues in the silences of his hard-working grandparents, but their unwritten code of conduct left him bored and eager to return home to his friends. The unwritten code: for the grandkids to want to come to his house, he had to be more fun than their friends. By breaking the code he opened a world beyond his wildest dreams.
