While on patrol, Lexie and her partner, Will Kemper, encounter two men who are casing a liquor store. Instead of being taken into custody, the men turn the tables, accusing the police officers of harassment. Already on eggshells, Lexie and Kemper are told to take extreme care when responding to other calls since neither of them can afford a blemish on their records. However, the crooks decide to use this to their advantage and set a trap for the cops.
In the meantime, Detective Riley is distracted. A jewelry store has been robbed, and all of his time has been devoted to dealing with that crime. He's barely seen Lexie in the last few weeks and arrives at work early to surprise her. That morning, he never expected to hear radio chatter that an officer is down. This news leaves him blindsided, but he recovers quickly, devising a plan to find the party responsible. Nothing can stop Michael from seeking his own brand of justice, except maybe Lexie.
