Songs in the Night

Songs in the Night is a heartfelt story of a family's struggle to survive through the early seventies in the backwoods of Oregon. Having become discouraged with what they called "the establishment," Cat and Sandy return to the land in much the same way their ancestors did. They build a home with no electricity or running water that can only be reached by foot during winter, but they love their little home nestled beneath towering Ponderosa pines and incense cedar.

It is there, midst the beauty of creation, beneath a sky so clear they breathe in the scent of life, that they discover the truth about the unrest in their souls. Unable to blame anyone else for their continued unrest, they turn to Creator and discover the truth about Him is much different than what they had been told all their lives.

Then tragedy strikes, putting their newfound faith to the test. Is simple faith enough to carry them through the loss of every material thing they own?

Each chapter is followed by a song that was written at a time in the author's life when she was asking God for answers. The simplicity of the writing coupled with newfound faith is sure to touch even the hardest of hearts.
