The Thin Place

Jan Love teeters on the edge of a high precipice overlooking the Rio Grande, contemplating how her life might improve if she threw herself into the teeming waters. Or she could just go back to the hotel in the Big Bend and drink herself to death. Either way, she would bring an end to her miserable existence as wife to a high profile Dallas preacher who specializes in hypocrisy and deception.

When a mysterious stranger approaches her, Jan is terrified, more so as he invites her to accept an invitation from Juan Diego to meet Our Lady of Guadalupe, locally known as the Mother of God. She reacts with belligerence and a panicky sense that she might be hallucinating. Again.

The threat of a sinister and lethal plot by high government officials, who have seduced her husband with an offer of national glory, puts Jan's life in danger, and she must somehow overcome her fears and accept the invitation to journey to "The Thin Place."
