Haiku: Two Butterflies Dance

Two butterflies dance

one flirting, then the other

Suddenly they part

On writing Haiku—
What excites me is the search for the right word to fit the three-line (5,7,5 syllables) pattern of traditional Haiku. Finding words that both capture the thought and at the same time set it free is exhilarating. Such simplicity. And such potential depth. A brief poem that-like a snapshot-captures a moment in time, a view, a feeling, a perspective, a deepening awareness.
