The Art of Love

Mary and Patrick, graduate students in Providence, Rhode Island, come from different worlds. Mary is a New Yorker and very tied to her Catholic religion. She is studying French at Brown University. Patrick is from Maine, an artist who considers religion in the context of art. He is expanding his horizons as an artist at the Rhode Island School of Design.

When they meet, the chemistry is immediate. But other relationships are swirling around this young couple and influencing them in so many ways: the uninhibited relationship between their artistic friends, Aaron and Melanie; Mary's sister Margie who is living in sin with her boyfriend Javier; Mary's tradition-bound parents; and Patrick's uncommunicative parents.

Can their love survive the inhibitions and conservative values they face? Can they truly create a life together and live happily ever after? Or will their love be destroyed by a passion that neither can deny?
