Professor Mark Ian Mahoney seeks to rebuild his life and that of his young children after the tragic death of his wife at the hands of a drunken driver by returning to the Michigan community where he spent a happy and secure childhood.

Challenged by demanding work as a research scientist, he seeks to find balance in his life via active membership in a small church and a growing friendship with the Montessori Directress who plays an important role in the education of his twins.

Their strong faith in God, coupled with their dedication to family and community service, form the basis for developing a long-term relationship
