There must be a final authority for all held truth. The scientist looks to nature. The Christian (conservative) looks to the Bible which is believed to reveal the truth as determined by God. As a result, the scientist should not interpret nature by his pre-held beliefs. Nature leads the man of science into believing the truth. As with developing a system of theology, the Bible reveals the accuracy of held opinions. The Bible is the test of belief - never the reverse. Confusion will result if we interpret the Bible through our philosophy.
So it begs the question: Does it matter what one believes about the doctrines of Heaven; Hell; God's wrath; whether God eternally pursues humanity; is there an end to accepting His grace; is one born again as a result of the faith of Christ alone; and are we given opportunity to respond to God's grace after death? What are the ramifications of God's reconciliation and forgiveness? Is it universal? If it is, does it apply universally to all humans?
Author and Pastor Ron Sears tackles this controversial and polarizing subject with patience, attention to detail, and compassion.
