When I’m 64 is a heart-wrenching look inside the life of a tormented soul and all of those he touched along the way. Lauren Levis’ father had always been there with an angst-ridden story from his colorful past, meant to highlight that only one thing in life is certain: If you’re breathing, you’re still fighting.

Life was a struggle from the moment John was born into an abusive, poverty stricken family in the foothills of Appalachia, to the morning when he drew his last breath. The cycle of abuse is difficult to watch, but it is even harder to break.

The Wagner family grew and developed despite the demons that John brought into their everyday existence. Together, they learned that to truly experience joy, they also had to survive times of unspeakable pain. When I’m 64 focuses on the possibility of hope that lives within us all, and uses that belief to guide us through the darkest hours and into the light.
