The "I Can Be a Hero" series is designed to help you learn how to recognize the signs and symptoms of a medical emergency and know what to do to help and when you need to call 911. Each book in the series covers a different medical situation. In this book, you will learn about diabetes and diabetic emergencies.
As an Advanced EMT and volunteer firefighter, I've seen plenty of medical emergencies. I've also seen where young children were the ones that stepped up as the hero. This book is designed for children ages 6-10 but is beneficial for all ages. It's inspired by a true story that happened between my then 6-yr-old son and my dad. This book has keywords in bold and a glossary of those words at the end. It is my hope that this book and the series as a whole will help more people become aware of medical conditions and will inspire the future first responders of the world.
