Frankenstein, Dracula, and Gothic Literature: Companion Text for College Writing 11.1x

"Frankenstein, Dracula, and Gothic Literature" is a companion text for the edX.org course College Writing 11.1x, "Stories," the first part of the AP® Literature & Composition course sponsored by UC Berkeley. In it, you will find discussion questions, information on understanding Gothic literature, as well as the full texts of the 1818 edition of Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein" and Bram Stoker's "Dracula."

Whether or not you participate in the free online course, this book offers an opportunity to think about these two masterpieces of Gothic literature when read together. Although written in different contexts and addressing different themes, these two pieces of literature, and especially their main characters, remain enormous in their continued effect as cultural symbols.
