Marie has risen from the gutters to become
Londinium's finest courtesan with judges and factory owners in her thrall. However, she tires of doing the bidding of her customers and her madam. She wants to shake the dust and dirt of the Garden District from her skirts and see the world. Most importantly, she wants to be free to do what she wants, when she wants.

When an old lover returns, Marie sees an opportunity for escape. But while she and her beloved are becoming reacquainted after many years apart, her apprentice goes suddenly goes missing. With a Madman on the loose, and mysterious detective on the hunt. Marie soon becomes embroiled in a mystery that will take her from the slums to the dining rooms of Londinium's elite.

As much as she wants her freedom, she might not be able to leave the Garden District just yet...
