We're taught difference. Our experiences filter what we see. Write Left visualizes the experiences of a Canadian-Trinidadian girl. She depicts her experiences with fresh eyes. She highlights moments of difference from childhood to adulthood in her Mississauga community in Ontario, Canada.
Sujaya's book, Write Left, is dedicated to her late grandfather, her nana, Vasudev Maharajh. Sujaya looks at age, gender, and questions tradition as her surroundings evolve.
The name 'Sujaya Devi' originated in Nepal and translates to "glorious victory or triumph." Sujaya is a second generation Canadian whose roots return to Trinidad and Tobago, India, and Nepal. Sujaya has been a 'Sauga City kid from the beginning and loves The Neighbourhood.
