During South African apartheid, twelve year-old Lifa is taken against his will to live and work on the Glen Cleaver wine estate. He becomes friends with Victor, a boy who teaches him that despite shocking inequality, a person can still be defined by the essential human virtues of compassion and kindness.

This is an incredible story of courage and rebellion. It gives a voice to the marginalised; to black Africans, to lost childhoods, to those who suffer from the abuses of power, and to those whose lives are smothered by hatred.
