This previously unreleased correspondence puts the Abbe Gregoire in a new light. A constitutional bishop serving Loir-et-Cher, he tries to strengthen a disoriented clergy in its dual loyalty to its faith and to the republic and strives to make the recent separation of church and state a reality.
