Growing up in Times of Social Change

Explores the consequences of the 1990 German unification on normative and maladaptive adolescent development as a method of more broadly examining the analysis of data on individual development in times of rapid social change. In the first part, psychologists, sociologists, and demographers present scientific reports addressing the consequences of unification on the development of German youth. Topics include adolescent peer relations; child poverty; initial vocational choices; friendships; and future oriented control and subjective well-being. Includes a chapter using the interpretation of the contents of photographs to depict social change.
