In comparison to the previous 14th edition, the 15th edition of this compendium of medievalpoetry by Walther von der Vogelweide shows a number of innovations. The sources have been newly examined, and critical textual decisions revisited. In cases of major variation a number of songs have been made available in multiple versions for the first time, thus opening the door to new interpretations. Interpretive aids, which are included for each 'Ton', are a major innovation and should facilitate access to Walther’s texts for students. Ease of access is also supported by additional sectionson Walther’s life and work andon the editorial history of this collection. Problematic, difficult, and disputed critical decisions about the texts are explained in a separate commentary.
