Sentence types such as declarative, interrogative, and imperative are basic units of German grammar. This volume comprehensively documents the current state of research for the first time. It takes into account not only the formal and functional properties of sentence types, but also overall questions such as sentence types in language acquisition, in spoken language, and compared accross languages.
