This volume examines the most important political features of the European Union, as they were established in the Lisbon Treaty. The prominent position of union citizenship underscores the fact the EU has developed into a political community. At the same time, the "classical" policy areas of the single European market continue to be key economic fields of activity for the Union, as presented in this volume.
