Globalization remains an eminent topic both in scholarly and public debates. While plenty of publications from the economic sciences, from political science, sociology and media theory have made important contributions, there apparently is a lack of philosophical reflection. This publication fills the gap and scientifically substantiates the philosophical and, in particular, the ethical debate on the matter.
Main topics are: the changing awareness of time and space; new simultaneities of the non-simultaneous; realities and virtualites; culturalism vs. universal values; hybridization; global transfer of knowledge and techniques; global responsibility; globalization and modernization; semiotics of the globalization; historicity.
