At present Europe is intensively concerned with the relationship between culture and identity. Culture is the basis for the identity of the individual and the group. Identity arises through the engagement with cultural conditions. The contributions of this volume from the fields of philosophy, sociology, theology, jurisprudence and Islamic studies (Enno Rudolph, Cornelis Schuyt, Michael Wolter, Rainer Rausch, Armina Omerika) provide historical and current analyses of culture in Europe.
