The Badisches Wörterbuch [dictionary of the Baden dialect] documents the vernacular vocabulary of theareathat constituted theformer Grand Duchy of Baden, extendingfrom Lake Constance over the Black Forest andtheeast bank of the Rhineto the Odenwald and the river Main near Wertheim. Apart from the vocabulary of the living dialects, historical expressions and names are also taken into account, albeit to a lesser extent.
