The book is designed to clarify and possibly define the fundamental steps for managing glaucoma patients. The ophthalmologist must distinguish the onset of glaucoma from ocular hypertension, to decide if and how to start treatment and the methods to assess its effectiveness, to understand if the failure of medical therapy justifies surgery and, above all, if intraocular pressure is, in any case, the most important risk factor to treat. Particular importance must be given to normal-pressure glaucoma, the physio-pathological and clinical characteristics of which are still highly controversial. The reader should have the oppportunity to capitalize on experience and knowledge of distinguishing experts from differerent parts of the world.
