Mainstreaming Climate Change Adaptation into Development Assistance: 'What It Shapes and What It Takes'-An Analysis of Policy, Practice and Implications with Evidence from German Official Development Assistance

The goal of this piece of research is to learn more about the implications of climate change adaptation for development policy and practice. First, at the policy level, the dynamics behind the evolution of climate change adaptation are explored to illustrate why the issue has recently turned into an expanding field for development aid agencies. Then, at the practice level, the case study of Germany contributes to more detailed knowledge about possible entry points and critical determinants that drive and constrain the mainstreaming of climate change adaptation into the work of development assistance.
