Georg Baselitz visited the Dresden collections when he was a youth. This early encounter with pictures would inspire him to create new interpretations. This volume juxtaposes Baselitz’s works of the last fifteen years with reproductions after paintings by Raphael, Cranach, Vermeer, Rembrandt, and many others: it presents Baselitz’s personal “backstory.”
