Merkur und Bavaria: Stadtfuhrer zu den Bronzen der Spatrenaissance in Munchen und Augsburg

Grandiose works of art in bronze, spirited and playful, of dramatic power and sublime monumentality, from the mythological to the religious and from the erotic and light to the heroic and triumphal, created in circa 1600 in southern Germany. Munich and Augsburg were cities in which the famous Florentine students of Giambologna established their workshops. The creations of Hubert Gerhard, Adriaen de Vries, Hans Krumpper and Carlo di Cesare still embellish the fountains, squares and façades in the former capitals of bronze casting.
