Die Kaiserzeitlichen Lampen vom Kerameikos

This substantial volume discusses and catalogues lamps dating from the Roman imperial period which have been found during excavations of the Karameikos, or 'potters' quarter', in Athens. Sections focus on types of imported lamps from the 1st and 2nd centuries AD, lamps found in the Pompeian complex and 4th-, 5th- and 6th-century examples. Particular attention is paid to decoration and makers' marks. The illustrated catalogue of 4774 lamps comprises much of the volume.
