Sol Niger: Dark Night of the Soul

Sol Niger is the culmination of twenty-two years that German photographer Marco Spinner refers to as his "dark night of the soul." The artist let himself be guided by his subconscious as he photographed the motifs. The words later poured out across the surface of their own accord. Sol Niger is about a journey to the most remote reaches of the mind. We venture there into the realm of symbols and archetypes. When browsing through the book, words and pictures overlap and intertwine, generating an inseparable unity in our minds.
