Sixty years after the legendary exhibition this is tomorrow (London 1956), this book presents the first comprehensive analysis of the emergence and development of British Pop Art. Approximately 200 paintings, sculptures, architectural models, posters, photographs, television broadcasts, music and films reflect the distinctive cultural shift in Great Britain from the late 1940s through to the end of the 1960s. The richly illustrated catalogue presents works from ‘icons’ such as Eduardo Paolozzi, Richard Hamilton, Allen Jones, David Hockney and R.B. Kitaj, as well as from many other protagonists of Pop Art, including the artists Pauline Boty or Jann Haworth and the architects Cedric Price and Archigram.
