Feinkeramik aus Knidos vom mittleren Hellenismus bis in die mittlere Kaiserzeit (c. 200 v.Chr. bis 150 n.Chr.)

English Summary: During the time of Hellenism and of the Empire, the ancient city of Knidos was one of the most important manufacturing centers of fine tableware in the eastern Mediterranean. To date, Cnidian ceramics have only been partially researched. With the help of around 2,000 artefacts, this volume shows the full range of fine ceramics produced in Knidos, including both undecorated mass-produced and painted or relief-decorated luxury tableware. Selected findings form the basis for a comprehensive chronology and typology of fine Cnidian ceramics. More than 90 local vessel types are discussed in detail and the decorated goods and their decorative elements characterized. The work also highlights the long-time evolution of local production and points to the causes of changes in the repertoire. Relations with other centers of production and the relationship between local and imported pottery are of particular interest. German Description: Die antike Metropole Knidos gehorte in Hellenismus und Kaiserzeit zu den bedeutendsten Herstellungszentren feinen Tafelgeschirrs im ostlichen Mittelmeerraum. Bislang war die knidische Keramik jedoch nur teilweise bekannt. Mit Hilfe von ca. 2.000 Fundstucken zeigt dieser Band das gesamte Spektrum der in Knidos produzierten Feinkeramik auf - sowohl undekorierte Massenware als auch bemaltes oder reliefverziertes Luxusgeschirr. Ausgewahlte Fundkomplexe bilden die Basis fur eine umfassende Chronologie und Typologie der knidischen Feinkeramik. Mehr als 90 lokale Gefasstypen werden detailliert besprochen, die dekorierten Waren und ihrer Zierelemente ausfuhrlich charakterisiert. Die Arbeit beleuchtet ferner die langzeitliche Entwicklung der lokalen Produktion und zeigt die Ursachen fur Veranderungen des Repertoires auf. Die Beziehungen zu anderen Produktionszentren und das Verhaltnis zwischen lokaler und importierter Keramik sind dabei von besonderem Interesse.
