Ehrenstatuen in der Spatantike: Chlamydati und Togati

English summary: The book investigates the iconography and chronology of the late antique toga statue and the late antique Chlamys statue. Both types of honorific statuary can only be observed from the Theodosian period (late-4th century) onwards. The phenomenon will be explained from the sociological, political and administrative changes that re-structured the elites of the Roman Empire after the reforms of the tetrarchy (late-3rd century); the process was completed in the late-4th century to a degree that made the development of new representational patterns possible and necessary. German description: Der Band untersucht das Erscheinungsbild und die Chronologie zweier Typen von Ehrenstatuen, des spatantiken Togatus und des spatantiken Chlamydatus. Das neuartige Erscheinungsbild beruht auf den gesellschaftlichen, politischen und administrativen Umwalzungen der Spatantike, die die Oberschichten des Imperium Romanum umstrukturierten, und die die Entwicklung neuartiger Reprasentationsmuster erforderten. Dieser Prozess begann mit den Reformen der Tetrarchie (spates 3. Jahrhundert), war aber erst in theodosianischer Zeit (spates 4. Jahrhundert) so weit abgeschlossen, dass die Eliten angemessene und gultige Bildmuster fur ihre Selbstdarstellung entwicklen konnten.
