It is undoubtedly one of the most renowned ship's names ever heard: The Rainbow Warrior. Almost automatically evokes pictures of a fight "David vs Goliath", of Greenpeace's hazardous campaigns against mighty corporations, whaling ships or nuclear tests. Spectacular actions on the high seas are the origin of the organization and they also have been essential for the public perception of it for the last 40 years. Their new flagship, built by a specialized German shipyard and suppliers from several countries, is more than an up-to-date base for marine actions. The Rainbow Warrior 3.0 also is setting new standards for sustainable shipping technology. The photographer Oliver Tjaden and the journalist Christoph Rasch have accompanied and meticulously documented the 14 month construction of the Rainbow Warrior lll, as well as her first voyages at sea. The fascinating images not only highlight the technical aesthetics, but also appreciate the people in the shipyard and their sophisticated work. Warrior 3.0 is a multifaceted portrait of an industry in upheaval. At the same time, the 124-page book records the birth of a ship that marks, with many profound texts, a technological and strategic turning point for Greenpeace.
