This book illustrates the impacts of the foregoing treatments on the human rights of lesbian, gay, and transgender people, and analyzes their non-consensual nature against the background of violence and discrimination that shapes the lives of gender and sexual minorities in Iran. This includes the various ways through which lesbian, gay and transgender people are excluded from family homes, denied employment, prevented from going to school, forced to marry, sent to jails and detention centers, sentenced to flogging and execution, and subjected to "street" violence and other physical and verbal attacks in public and private settings.
The book also documents the human rights violations experienced by transgender people as a result of medical requirements imposed on them in order to obtain legal recognition of their gender.
