On grounds of the intransparent and confusing aggregation of definitions and princibles in mechanics the english civil engineer Walter Raleigh Browne (1842-1884) tried to accomplish a more specific and clear guideline. This book introduces the subject\'s fundamentals that were valid in the 19th century.
