This book presents a consensus of internationally renowned authorities on the diagnosis and treatment of early esophageal cancer. Meeting at an international symposium held in Kyoto, Japan, pathologists, physicians, surgeons, and endoscopists presented and discussed the most recent results of molecular biological studies on esophageal neoplasm - its development, invasion, and metastasis.
Topics included treatment modalities for early squamous cell carcinoma and early adenocarcinoma, the molecular basis of differentation of dysplasia from early cancer, and less invasive treatment for superficial esophageal neoplasm.
