Recent Advances in Gastroenterology: Proceedings of Digestive Disease Week-Japan (DDW-Japan '98), April 15-18,1998, Yokohama

This book is a compilation of papers presented at an international sym posium on digestive diseases held in Yokohama in April 1998. A major g oal of the symposium was the exchange of information between researche rs and practitioners in Japan and those in other countries. The papers that were presented and the discussions that were held provided valua ble insights into the research and therapy being conducted throughout the world today. The contributions collected in this volume are in two parts. The first deals with the gastrointestinal tract and includes c hapters on abnormalities of gastrointestinal motility, histopathologic al analysis, and problems in management of severe gastrointestinal ble eding. The second part, dealing with the liver and pancreas, includes chapters on expression of FAS ligand in relation to hepatic metastasis of colon cancer, antiviral therapy for hepatitis, treatment of chroni c pancreatitis, and Ascaris-related biliopancreatic diseases.
