Japanese stencil design has a long history since 8th century, and has been used for armor, kimonos, costumes for Noh and other entertainments.
This book reproduces more than 300 stencil designs from the archive of Tabata family, created over 200-year span. This 'Elegance' volume consists of geometric and various other patterns. All these designs, which have withstood the test of time, are surely the source of inspiration for all the graphic and textile designers.
