Write on Target: A creative and integrated approach to academic and practical writing

Write on Target was written to help students practice writing in a variety of forms. The book focuses on 5 areas of writing: essays, short stories, sentences, poetry, and reading comprehension questions. Each section deals with different types of writing, offering comprehensive advice on ways to improve your writing style. Students with a moderate to high level of English proficiency will benefit most from using this textbook, in particular high school-university students.

I developed the textbook for my intermediate-level students in Japan. It is therefore a book designed to improve the writing skills of this type of student. The main aspects of the book are:

- to practice organized writing through essays
- to develop an understanding of essay form and idea creation
- to practice various essay forms such as Cause & Effect, Process, Informative, and Personal
- to enhance creativity through short story writing and poetry
- to foster an interest in writing and reading by examining 4 simplified short stories
- to develop stronger vocabulary skills through writing practice using common words found on the TOEFL exam

Writing is challenging for anyone who has tried to put their thoughts into words. Hopefully, this textbook can aid students and teachers to enjoy the process of writing because writing is a skill that can get better through practice and effort.
