350 years ago, the first Norwegian navigation light was lit at Lindesnes on the southern tip of Norway. Since then, more than 200 lighthouses and fog bells have helped ships find their way to harbors or navigate along the coast of Norway. The lighthouse has always had a mysterious attraction for people, more so in the past few decades. This richly illustrated reference book reveals part of the history of Norwegian lighthouses. It explains the etymology, setting, and cultural history of these lighthouses, and also provides a brief history for each.
