In this unsettling, ironic novel, readers meet Antonio Martinez: a solitary, middle-aged businessman who, between trips, fantasizes about the possibility of being someone else, of living a completely different life. Antonio entertains himself at airports by guessing the names of the people he observes, inventing lives for them that might well be his. But who is he, really? The story draws readers in, requiring them to grapple with the narrative as it weaves together the disparate and ambivalent identities that feature in it into a plot that reflects the anguish and emotions of characters who are incapable of supporting themselves.
