In this work, Jan Assmann asks to what degree monotheism has been the main instigator of countless situations of violence and persecution of “other religions” who have ravaged coexistence of European populations. The alleged return of religion has not led to more peace, but has actually meant a terrible increase in violence and conflict on Earth. Opposing groups use religion when it comes to forging images of enemies and mobilizing the masses.
