The Era of Philip II: SPAIN II

During Philip II's reign, Spain established itself as a colonial power, to such an extent that it created an empire in which "the sun never set", in the monarch's own words. This empire, which included Portugal's territories, triggered the resentment of France and England and Spain also had to contend with the Protestant revolt in the Netherlands.
