Napoleon Bonaparte was determined to combine two contradictory concepts, empire and revolution, within the same social order. His megalomania drove him to put the whole of Europe under his control, with the exception of England and Russia. However, in the countries he conquered he introduced the revolutionary French developments such as territorial organization and judicial order.
