Law and Marriage in the Middle Ages: Proccedings of the Seventh Carlsberg Academy Conference on Medieval Legal History

This volume contains the proceedings of the conference "Law and Marriage in Medieval and Early Modern Times" held in May 2011 at the Carlsberg Academy in Copenhagen. The book includes articles from an international group of scholars on various aspects of marriage, not only from a legal viewpoint, but also a theological and historical perspective. The time perspective of the book covers both the Middle Ages and the Early Modern Period, while the geographical focus is in Europe. The collection covers a multitude of aspects regarding marriage, such as the concept itself, the practical sides of marriage (dowries and last wills), and various marital strategies.
