The life of Alfredo, true Italian mammone (“mama’s boy”), is much more than the tale of a morbid obsession: it is an irreconcilable internal conflict, the anxiety of a voice-over controlling every thought, every action, every step he makes. It is his mother, image of unquestionable perfection and tyrant of his conscience, that guides him through the choice of his university, his wife, his job. Even of his moral principles. The path to reconciliation will have to know rifts, rejections, rebellions. After devoting himself to libertinism, Alfredo will find the relationship with the Ukrainian prostitute Ivanka to be the only genuine thing of his life. From it, he will draw the strength to face his desires, slowly demolishing a counterfeit life.
