This richly illustrated book opens a new perspective on buildings and monuments in the Mediterranean region, describing the important role played by builders and constructors in society since ancient times. Many examples are taken from ancient Egypt, the Mycenaean culture in Greece, then ancient Rome and Renaissance, and finally form Italian Fascist era. The last section of the book focuses on the trulli, a lively type of building which is symbol of the Apulian region in Italy.
