In his essay, slim but full of insights, the historian Zeffiro Ciuffoletti analyzes the three major crises that hit Italy in the twentieth century – the first one by the end First World War, then after the Second, and the third in the days of Tangentopoli – to highlight the reasons behind many political and economic issues that have afflicted this country for many years. The book also highlights problem and contradictions that afflict Europe and the world nowadays, such as immigration, terrorism and the threats of global communication.
