The title of the book refers to the "action of research" that involved some artists, who confronted themselves with the reality of Monsummano Terme and realized, after that experience, an exhibition held at the Museum of Contemporary Art and of the Twentieth Century in Villa Renatico Martini, between October and November 2011. Being more than a mere documentation of the artists' works (Bazzani, Colomer, Dantini, Marcetti, Goengrich, Kamma, Martinetti, Musovik, Pavlenko, Potrc, Rizzi, Sauer, Sonjasdotter, Steiner), the book is a pluridirectional reading tool of contemporary art and of our contemporary age in general. As the curator Giacomo Bazzani points out, "if you want to find a contemporary space of action where artistic practices could acquire a meaning (not because they are quotations of a mythical past, but because they are able to interact effectively with their environment), many contemporary experiences inaugurate significant models. Building communities or establishing new social meanings, recomposing a fragmented memory or creating a platform for collective actions, seem to be convincing forms of action that give a current meaning to artistic practices in search of identity". With contributions by Barbara Dalla Salda, Giacomo Bazzani, Corrado Marcetti, Matilde Martinetti and Barbara Steiner.
